Dear Shooters:
Mother Nature was benevolent and provided us with a great
day to burn some gun powder. There were a total of 28 registered shooters in
attendance. Ten in Stock Service, six Custom Defense, and nine in the Enhanced
Service Division. Revolvers were in short supply at this event having only two
in Stock Revolver and one lone shooter in Enhanced Service Revolver. When the
smoke cleared Mr. Otis Lawrence produced the lowest overall match time by being
the top shooter in Custom Defense. BORCC’s own Mike Gorbitz headed up the Stock
Service Division. Enhanced Service was lead by Lee Fisher and Randy Ciesiolka
was King of the Hill with the wheel gunners.
Stage 1, Dairy Store Shoot-Out, minced most of the
shooters. This was a reenactment of an actual police shooting in New York City. Twelve of the shooters hit the
no shoot, five had a failure to neutralize (including me), and six had a failure
to neutralize and hit the no shoot. That left only five who ran the stage clean
of penalties. Mr. Otis Lawrence navigated the course of fire in 5.04 seconds
dropping only two points. This is the reason I am bestowing upon him the title
of “Mister Lawrence”. I do not have the authority to title him “Sir Lawrence”.
The course description had the shooters shouting “Police – drop your weapons”
before engaging the first target. If you shouted the phrase and then activated
the start signal; I am convinced Otis duplicated Jim Carrillo’s time of sub
three seconds on this COF. My complements to you sir! Most shooters do not know
that the first IDPA match Otis attended was at BORCC. We were shooting indoors;
Otis was a new shooter and received coaching from the RO staff. I taught Otis
everything he knows about pistol shooting. Well Mr. Otis, the coaching has
ended, no more Mr. Nice Guy, from this point forward you will have to perform on
your own merits. Honorable mention on Stage 1 goes to Mike Gorbitz who had a
7.71 second run down only three points. And Mike; I am not coaching you any more
either. My complements to both of you. Fine shooting gentlemen.
Our next match will be on Sunday November 1st.
If Mother Nature’s kindness continues, we will be shooting outdoors. The staff
at BORCC hopes you enjoyed our little match and that you will make the first
Sunday of the month a scheduled visit to our range.
